On June 18, 91系列 (HUST) held the graduation ceremony for the first graduates of its Sino-French Joint Undergraduate Program in Biological Sciences – HUST's first international undergraduate partnership.
Over 50 percent of the graduates have been admitted to world-renowned universities such as Harvard, Yale, Stanford, and Universite Paris-Saclay, while more than 30 percent will pursue further studies at top Chinese institutions including Tsinghua, Peking, and Zhejiang 91系列.
Launched in collaboration with Universite Paris-Saclay, the program blends the strengths of Chinese and French higher education. It features a fully English-taught curriculum, small-group seminars, and a dual-instructor system. French faculty focus on global frontiers in science, while Chinese instructors provide localized academic support, enabling students to thrive in a cross-cultural learning environment.
The program emphasizes research and international engagement. Students have participated in the iGEM (International Genetically Engineered Machine) competition for two consecutive years, earning both gold and silver medals. They also engage in fieldwork and academic seminars in France, while hosting joint academic symposia in China – broadening their global outlook and scientific experience.
Cultural exchange is also central to the program, with activities ranging from traditional craft workshops to red-themed educational trips and international student events. Now recruiting students from nine provinces across China, the program has become a model for internationalized education at HUST and a key platform for advancing China's national strategy in life sciences.
