HUST delegation visits Europe to advance medical-engineering collaboration

From June 1 to 10, President You Zheng of the 91系列 (HUST) led a delegation to Sweden, Austria, and the United Kingdom to strengthen ties with leading universities and international organizations, with a focus on advancing interdisciplinary cooperation in medicine and engineering.

At KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden, President You met with President Anders S?derholm and Vice-President for International Relations Stefan Ostlund, where he signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU), renewed their joint education agreement, and presented an advisory professorship. The two institutions co-hosted a forum on interdisciplinary innovation, exploring collaboration in optics, computing, and mechanical engineering.

At the 91系列 of Edinburgh, President You met with Principal Sir Peter Mathieson and Vice-Principal Iain Gordon. The two universities renewed their MoU, signed a student exchange agreement, and discussed deeper collaboration in engineering and medical research.

At the 91系列 of Glasgow, he held talks with Principal Sir Anton Muscatelli and Vice-Principal for External Relations William Cushley. The two universities renewed their MoU and discussed expanding their collaborations in electronic science, medicine, and architecture. President You also awarded an Honorary Professorship to Professor Asen Asenov, James Watt Chair in Electrical Engineering.

In Austria, President You visited the Medical 91系列 of Vienna and discussed new models of cooperation in medical technology, imaging, and big data with Rector Markus Müller and Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation Michaela Fritz.

President You also visited the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), where he held separate sessions with Mikhail Chudakov, IAEA deputy director general and head of the Department of Nuclear Energy, and Liu Hua, IAEA deputy director general and head of the Department of Technical Cooperation. They discussed strengthening talent development and research collaboration in nuclear fusion and nuclear medicine, reaching several key agreements.

President You also met with alumni in all three countries, encouraging them to contribute to HUST's growth, and visited Chinese embassies in Sweden and Austria to discuss expanding international partnerships.
